BEGINNER’S MIND: An Introduction to the Art & Science of Meditation

Most Sundays at 6:30pm

Beginner’s Mind is for people who are new to meditation or for those with overactive minds. If you’ve tried to meditate in the past and you think you can’t do it, come and try one more time.
There is nothing to lose, and your life to gain.

The best way to learn to meditate is together with other sincere seekers. A regular and intentional meditation practice will allow you the opportunity to open up a space of time between stimulus and response, that you can continue to nurture and grow with meditation. In that created space, time slows down so that you can examine the nature of your mind, rather than being run around by random past associations.

Every Sunday night we gather at Zoetic to learn and practice different techniques and modalities of meditation under the instruction of Dara, Zoetic’s Master Meditation Instructor. The hour you spend learning the basics of different meditation styles will touch every other hour of your week.

There are so many different styles of meditation and many different ways of practicing formally, and they all lead to the exact same place, inside. Let’s adventure there together.

Meditation can be done in any position. In addition, we provide all manner of props, chairs, cushions and supports. A member of the Zoetic team is more than happy to show you how to use them correctly so you can achieve comfort while meditating.

To give you an example of a few topics we will be exploring:

  • Body Scan

  • The Beautiful Breath

  • Transcendental Meditation

  • Walking Meditation

  • Buddhist Mantra

  • Visualization

And much, much more…Class size will be limited to 10, and the topic will be announced a few days prior to class.

If you are very sensitive, be forewarned: we use percussion instruments, aromatherapy, etc and Zoetic’s mindfulness mascots OooNa, the giant house bunny, the outdoor free roaming herd of miniature goats, the flock of prehistoric chickens, or the preternaturally empathetic cats (one indoor, one outdoor) will join us to provide support.

RSVP required for gate code and for courtesy sake as spaces are limited.
